About the blog

Here I will write about my progress (or most likely lack there of) when it comes to scale modelling.

More Spitfires? Of course...

A couple of days ago there was the 70th anniversary of D-day. And to celebrate this, Eduard decided to give out a limited edition of their Spitfire IX with various d-day markings... And being the Spitfire nut I am, I had to get it. So, now it's on it's way in the mail... Looking forward to it... Just have to conquer my fear of doing invasion stripes...

Bad Italeri...

Spitfire mania...Posted by Thomas Sat, June 15, 2013 04:18:51

In my quest for more Spitfires to add to the collection I found new about Italeri releasing a Spitfire Vc in 1/48 scale. Just having bought their excelent new Hurricane my hope was instantly raised, could there be a new long run injection moulded Spitfire Vc on the way out on the market...

Of course not! Instead it's a reboxing of Special Hobbys kit (limited run???)... So, shame on you Italeri for raising my hope!

A spin to the tale...

Have thought about a twist for my Spitfire mania. Are also a fan about RAAF, and had already planed to do some of my Spitfires in RAAF markings. But now I discovered a sheet of decals so I can do some RAAF Spitfires in RAF markings, so I will eventually have a whole bunch of Spitfires from 457 squadron. Just have to get another Tamiya Vb to pull it of... But as we all know by now, you can't have to many Spitfires...

Getting out of hand???

Spitfire mania...Posted by Thomas Sun, May 12, 2013 05:56:34
Started thinking that I would like to add a naval touch to the mix as well, so have started looking for a good Seafire kit. Choosing between a MkIb from Hasegawa or a MkII or MkIII from Special Hobby. All the kits have it's pros and cons so I have to think a little about it.

Also thinking about getting some aftermarket decals for my Tamiya MkI to turn it into a machine flown by RAAF squadron 457...

Not all things go as planed...

Received my C-wing conversion for the Tamiya kit today, and what a disappointment. Bad casting, wrong canons... So, now I ordered Airwaves kit that I have used before and are satisfied with...

Spitfire mania...Posted by Thomas Sat, April 27, 2013 11:24:25
As the topic states, even more Spitfires on the way. Got word during the week that my conversion wings for the Tamiya kit was on it's way, so the basic kit was also ordered, along with a sheet of decals for RAAF aircrafts...

And speeking of RAAF, Hasegawa just released a limited edition kit of their Mk VIII with new decals, so I had to get that as well...

Plus while it was at it I stumbled over Tamiyas Mk.I kit as well...

But you know what they say, you can't have to many Spitfires...

Ok, planning to do a lot of Spitfires... Already have Tamiya's 1/32 Mk.VIII and their Vb. Also have Hasegawa's 1/48 Mk.VIII as well as Airfix's new Pr Mk.XIX.

And that are the ones I already have... Have Eduards upcoming Mk.IX on pre-order, plus that I have ordered a conversion kit to make a Vc out of Tamiyas Vb, so have to get me one more of those...

But have a couple of other projects to land before I embark on my Spitfire journey...
